SCALE Journal

The built environment ranges in scale from a wooden step stool to a vast urban landscape. scale journal is a publi-cation bridging various disciplines at Brown and RISD interested in the built environment. Promoting writing
and projects that explore belonging and space, we seek
to amplify underrepresented voices—in both academic and lived experiences.

SCALE refers to the uneven roads and pattern of cracked asphalt also known as alligator cracking. Similar to the natural cycle of deterioration and creation happening in the locale landscape, SCALE is a platform for organic discourse emerging from a diverse set of disciplines and perspectives concerning art, space, architecture, and design.
